Today the whole world celebrates the World Day of Information Society. The holiday is devoted to popularization of ICT all over the world. This day is considered to be a professional holiday for those who work in the sphere of information technologies.

The goal of this international holiday is to provide for increase of level of awareness about possibilities which ICT can bring in societies and countries, including internet, and also about ways of overcoming the digital inequality.   

In 2010 The World Day of Information Society will be celebrated at the World Expo-2010 exhibition in Shanghai. Its keynote idea  - "The Better City, the Better Life with ICT” – corresponds with the theme of the exhibition World Expo "The Better City, the Better Life" which reflects the general desire of the mankind – to provide for higher standard of life in the future city environment.  ICT provides for expedited pursuing this goal.
