The IIS (PRIOR Coordinating Organization) library is filled up with new significant paper: Annual World Report 2009 "Information Society Policies". This paper has been prepared within the framework of the Information for All Programme by experts of the Information Society Research Institute of Budapest University of Technology and Economics, and reflects their opinions. The paper is provided to the IIS leaders by Mr. Dendev Badarch, Director of the UNESCO Office in Moscow. 

One of the report key themes is social differences. On the one hand, the information society eliminates several historical divides; on the other hand, unequal distribution of ICT tools strengthens social diversification. Some tools for eliminating the aforesaid ones, as well as cultural differences of digital diversification are well outlined in the report. The authors make a short overview on the regional differences of this symptom and they highlight one solution offered by the information society – positive effects of using broadband internet. The expansion of mobile technology might present a similar tool with significant effect; therefore, they introduce some really well-operating solutions from this area.

The report also covers the key aspects of information policy in the social sphere, which obviously vary from country to country. Among the most significant trends of technological changes they highlighted and introduced several important technical achievements, where the authors specially emphasized the field of e-Health.

Information society strategies increasingly focus on e-government in present report. Accordingly, current trends of e-government are examined here, such as the sweep of open source code, the expansion of green IT, the falling of e-voting and the development of blog democracy. Instead of the original technological approach, e-government concepts are now socially oriented, which is perceived as a meta-trend.
